Since the beginning of January, we have spent time thinking about changes we want to make, what we want to change them to, and the benefits that will come from those changes, and what drives us to make them. We now have a clear view of what we want the future to be.
Now you may be thinking, this is all well and good, but it's all been tried before and it didn't work, I just give up and cave in... Perhaps work got in the way, or unexpected events?
Ask yourself this, did you think about your goals and reasons in this much depth before? Did you consider what was driving you to make those changes last time? The time before? No?
The fact that you have reached week five of this blog shows a level of commitment, so let's make this work.
Think about each time you have tried to reach your goals before and think about the barriers that stopped you. What do you notice about yourself, what did you learn from the experience?
Let's look at an example of eating more healthily. You do fine for the first 3 weeks, then you get in one evening and there isn't any food in the fridge because the shopping hasn't been done, so you resort to pizza.....
Rather than blame the lack of food, let's look deeper. What prevented the food being there? Maybe the learning is that we are not super organised? So what would we do differently next time?
Think about where you want to be with each goal, and ask yourself how you would do it differently?
So, we have spent January exploring and building solid goals, next week, we will start to look at planning our actions.
